About Spix App

What is Spix App?

Spix App is a video-based microlearning platform that transforms how people learn languages and new skills. Instead of traditional long-form lessons, we break learning into bite-sized video segments followed by targeted exercises.

Learners watch educational videos (typically 10-15 minutes), then complete interactive exercises based on the content: finding specific words, identifying grammar patterns, answering comprehension questions, and more.

Our Story

The project was inspired by the "English AI Challenge" from Vert Dider — an innovative educational marathon for learning English with AI assistance, microlearning principles, and gamification elements.

What started as a Google Sheets-based MVP with ChatGPT integration has evolved into a full-featured web platform. After successfully running multiple commercial cohorts with the spreadsheet version, we built this custom application to scale the learning experience.

How Learning Works

1. Video Content

Each learning session is built around carefully selected educational videos. Videos come with subtitles in multiple languages and precise timecodes, allowing learners to revisit specific moments easily.

2. Interactive Exercises

After watching, learners complete exercises designed around the video content. Exercise types include:

  • Vocabulary search — find specific words or phrases from the video
  • Grammar identification — identify grammatical structures used in the content
  • Comprehension questions — answer questions about the video content
  • Custom prompts — AI-generated exercises based on video context

3. AI-Powered Feedback

When learners submit their answers, our AI system (powered by Ollama) reviews them instantly. The system checks accuracy, provides feedback, and assigns scores based on correctness. Trainers can also manually review answers when needed.

4. Gamified Progress

Learning is organized into games, stages (days), and exercise sets. Learners earn points for correct answers, unlock bonuses, and can compete with others in their organization or group. Progress tracking helps learners see their improvement over time.

Platform Structure

Organizations

Companies, schools, or groups that organize learning. Each organization can have multiple groups and manage members.

Games

Learning programs that contain multiple stages. Each game focuses on specific learning goals.

Stages

Individual learning days or modules within a game. Each stage has a video and associated exercises.

Exercises

Categorized tasks linked to stages. Each exercise has prompts that guide the AI review process.
